Start thinking positively!
Choose a balanced meal.

Healthy eating is just a matter of making sensible choices.
As you begin to develop an improved understanding of nutrition and eating habits, you'll gradually become more conscious of what you eat. But try not to become obsessed with food and what you can and can't eat.

• Change your current eating habits gradually to give your body time to adjust.

• Eat slowly and enjoy your food by chewing every mouthful thoroughly.

• Eat small amounts frequently and avoid large meals as they can put a strain on the
digestive system.

Dietary fat can be totally converted to body fat.
Controlling saturated fat (those that are solid at room temperature) intake is, therefore, as
important as reducing overall calories. Replace high-fat foods with low-fat foods.

• Eat at least five servings of fruit and vegetables each day, or 5 servings of vegetables
for Gold product users. These help to provide vitamins, minerals, trace elements and dietary
fibre.

• Cut back, but don't necessarily cut out, the foods you love.

• Control your desire to snack. If you must snack, then choose a healthy option!

• Take responsibility for your daily nutrition by including nutritional supplements
to ensure that essential nutrients are plentiful in your diet.

Correct fluid intake fuels success.
Drink at least two litres of water daily to help flush out wastes and keep the body properly hydrated. Ideally, drink one litre when you wake up to replenish reserves you lose during
the night.

• Dilute fruit juices by mixing them 50/50 with water.

• Drink a large glass of water half an hour before each meal to help prevent you from overeating.

• Avoid low-calorie drinks containing artificial sweeteners.

• Reduce alcohol to a minimum!

Make time for rest and relaxation.
Establishing a new lifestyle is an important step and in some cases, a major undertaking! Build a
'personal reward' into each day–that is, a period of relaxation, which allows enough time to
recuperate from the stresses and strains of the day.
Many people remain active right up until they fall into bed, exhausted and then lie awake
for long periods unable to switch off. A regular hour or so 'winding down', followed
by six to eight hours of quality sleep each night, is essential to weight-control success. It helps
to promote good health and vitality, by allowing the body time to repair and renew its
cells while you sleep.
